Mentorship Program

Developing the leaders of tomorrow. Providing opportunities to learn, grow, and advance.

The Regional Hispanic Institute is an organization devoted to the achievement and development of young Latino leaders. The RHI’s mission is to foster great mentoring and internship relationships between students and professionals.

We seek to develop future generations of professionals, corporate executives, and community leaders. We focus in making stronger connections and linking young leaders with high-ranking officers in a wide-variety of business fields.

The RHI is focused on forging stronger connections and linking young leaders with high-ranking officers in a wide-variety of business fields. Students and recent graduates serve on the Regional Hispanic Institute Youth Council for two years with the option to continue every two years. *(Each student receives a stipend for the volunteering hours). Donations to the Regional Hispanic Institute ensure that the program continues to make the connections between students and professionals.

Mentor Requirements

Mentors are requested to have at least five years of management experience and must have demonstrated success in their respective industries. It is helpful to have participated in various levels of upper management, including: managers, directors, Vice Presidents, CEO’s, CFO’s, COO’s, or Presidents. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to be mentors as well.

 

Mentee Requirements

The requirements for a student to participate in this program are to:

Be enrolled as either a Business major or a Business minor
Have attained Junior-year status
Be a member of one of the CBA student organizations
These requirements assure that students have a fundamental level of knowledge to help them be effective as interns and to benefit as much as possible from the experience. Business majors are encouraged to participate in the mentorship program.

Please read the attached document very carefully – Essays in PDF are required.  For one of the awards, “testimonials from faculty, mentors, employers and civic leaders will be helpful to the student’s case”.

 
There are four scholarships: Professional Excellence Award – $1,000; Director’s Award – $1,000; and the Financial Executives International (FEI) Award – $2,000, one each to a finance student and an accounting student. The professional Excellence and Director’s awards are available to students that are members of SCPD at the time the application is submitted. The FEI awards are available to all finance and accounting students, including graduate students.

CBA Marketing Department hosts Entrepreneurship/Networking Seminar

IBA advisor Markus Biegel and CSULB College of Business Administration, Marketing Department are hosting an event on Monday, February 6th.

 

Elias Zepeda, Founder & CEO of First Class Marketing Group, is going to talk about Entrepreneurship and Networking. Coming from the largest networking event organizers in the world, Mr. Zepeda will be sharing some great networking tips.

 

This is a great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of networking with professionals. This will serve as an introduction and preparation for networking opportunities we will have in the future!

Congratulation Justin McKay for winning IBA Scholarship with achievement of Officer of the Year. At IBA, we always value strong leaders and want to invest in to future. Furthermore, the scholarship is just a small benefit of being IBA members. Also, thank you Markus Biegel, IBA’s Faculty Advisor, for matching the scholarship with his personal funds.
